UPDATE 2021-02-16 I added some new parts, The filament feed system, the filament spool is mounted at the bottom and feeds through a top mount with a sensor. The screen is moved to the top to clear the front dual Z rods. Here is the final video on the update. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8XcjvKydSA ____________________________________________________________________ This is a remix of the excellent design by TR-909 https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4079052. Thingiverse would not let me post this as a remix. That design was great, but did not work for me, as I needed more clearance for my direct drive configuration using an OmniaDrop. I tried a number of other solutions, and finally decided I needed more room. I replaced the front to back 2020 extrusions with new 2040 ones that were 500mm long vs the stock 410mm. I used the stock 2020 as a drill pattern to make new holes and then tapped them with a 5mm tap. By using the 2040 the print head was raised by 20mm. This is not an inexpensive mod, and I'm not sure how much improvement it made, but the build plate is rock solid and the prints are very good. This is my experimental printer and still undergoing changes. Here is a video of it a week ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GI6Md47vsCk&t=1s&ab_channel=DavidWilson I'm now working on the Quick Change mod with a new wiring connector. Stay tuned for updates
