Engraved shell gorget discovered at Hairston site (31Sk1), located in Stokes County, North Carolina. This artifact dates back to the Late Woodland period, specifically between AD 1500 and 1600. Crafted from marine shell, it measures 56.8 millimeters in length, 52.5 millimeters in width, and a mere 3.2 millimeters thick. Catalogued as number 2342a3399 within the North Carolina Archaeological Collection at Research Laboratories of Archaeology, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
