Now you can have your DNA (or any other microcentrifuge sample) and wear it, too! For the first DIY Bio meet we did the classic DNA extraction lab, where you extract your DNA from cheek cells and store it in Eppendorf tubes to take home. A popular twist on this experiment is to run string through the tube, creating a necklace. Of course, just running yarn through the Eppendorf cap hinge is pretty janky, so I created this as an alternative! You can snap your sample into the necklace and wear it proudly. The string slot was designed to take dog tag chain or lanyard clips, so it should also take any other jewelry chain or cord just fine. This is designed for 1.5 mL Eppendorf tubes. If anyone is interested in other diameters let me know and I'll revise the code so it's parametric! To snap the tube in, point either the hinge or the opener tip so that it's perpendicular to the flat back of the necklace and push.
