EPSP synthase - the target of Round-Up

EPSP synthase - the target of Round-Up

thingiverse

This plant enzyme is part of the cellular machinery that synthesizes essential amino acids, which are building blocks of proteins and precursors to many of the chemical compounds that plants make. Round-up binds to this enzyme and prevents it from working - killing the plant. Round-Up resistant plants have a variant of this enzyme that prevents Round-Up from binding and allowing the plants to live, even if they are sprayed with this herbicide. Instructions This was printed on a MakerBot Replicator 2X. You will need to create a custom profile that uses the old support structure and not the newer sparser supports. First select standard quality then create a custom profile. Then edit the profile and look for "supportExcessive". Set this value to "true" and then save the preset. This molecule was printed in three parts and is held together with magnets.
