EQ3-2 tripod Skywatcher Focus Controller Bracket

EQ3-2 tripod Skywatcher Focus Controller Bracket

thingiverse

A bracket for holding your Skywatcher Focus Controller which mounts on one of the tripod legs of an EQ3-2 mount. Will also fit the EQ2 and probably several others. Very useful to stop the controller just dangling or using up the accessory tray. The holes allow it to be screwed to one of the legs using the lower pair of securing screws at the top of the leg. You will probably have to dismantle the top of the leg from the tripod and remove the top securing screws (they are assembled really tight) to allow this to be slid into place - I wouldn't like to try prying the jaws apart and forcing it on - it will likely snap. You will need a longer pair of screws (M5 X 14), as the existing screws will be too short to pass through this bracket and into the leg. Based on Thing 2285649 by "sirhc", which I found to be non-printable on any FDM printer I had as it is non-manifold. It was printable on a Photon SLA printer using Chitubox, but wouldn't fit the focus controller without a LOT of filing (and SLA resin is really tough to file). The original was designed using Tinkercad, and the STL produced was a brilliant advert for NOT using it. This version is really a totally new design using just the basic shape of the original design. The dimensions of the actual holder have been increased by 0.5mm in depth, and will now fit the controller when printed on both SLA and FDM printers, On FDM printers the fit will be a little looser - if you prefer a tighter fit you could glue strips of card or thin felt to the "jaws".
