A generic project box for ESP-12F modules which I use for temperature sensing and IR blasting. The SCAD design allows for several variations. Powering from an internal mini AC power brick or USB powered with 5 to 3.3V converter Options for DS18B20 temperature sensor connection and IR blaster. A separate SCAD has DS18B20 cable parts. For USB powering I use a micro USB connector with easy solder connections combined with a mini adjustable down converter to give 3.3V. For mains powering I use HLK-PM03 modules which are about the smallest one can get. I connect with a solderable 500mA slow blow fuse and secure the cable on the inside of the housing with a tie wrap. The temp sensor connector I use is a 3 pin IC socket connector. The hole is a fairly tight fit but I add a little bit of resin glue to secure it. I make a little board for the LED blaster which has a MOSFET driver (I use a AO3400) so that the logic from the ESP8266 can switch on to give a good current (80mA) through the LED. The DS18B20 cable parts allow the sensor to be a bit remote and avoid any local warming.
