This is my go-to solution for all ESP8266 color displays I currently use. It can be fitted with three buttons (two onboard reset and flash - and one 6x6mm button to clip in in the back. You can also use a single WS2812 LED (facing back for a really nice optical effect) on the top as a status LED. After wiring the plasic pins can be used to rivet the boards in place. The flash button and the one in tha back can be used to interact with the device. There are several displays that go by the name of ST7735 - I used one without a card reader and one with - the one with a card reader had a red (rot) PCB - just to give you a hint - check the distance of the mounting holes in the diplay's PCB to be sure to print the correct verison (ROT or BLAU) of the base plate.
