Espresso Tamp Handle

Espresso Tamp Handle

thingiverse

I needed a handle for my stainless espresso tamp. The price of these things is quite a bit for what is essentially a hunk of plastic so I figured this would be a perfect time to design the 1st custom part my 3D printer would make. See video of the build process on my thingomatic: http://vimeo.com/25993602 It works amazingly well and fits perfectly into the stainless end. The only change I would make if I were to do it again would be to try my hand at designing some plastic threads to match with the included steel bolt...as it stands it works perfectly well using the bolt to cut its own threads into the handles base mounting hole. Instructions The end is sized to approximately 30mm (standard RB tamper size) to fit the indent at the top of the tamp base. Be sure to double check that the object is sitting level on your build platform before building as I think the stl file may be set 1mm below origin. Another small change one could make would be to extend the base of the tamper by a few millimeters to end up with a perfectly flush transition from the steel base into the plastic handle as my current version has a very small gap but I like the look of the small break.
