Estonian longboard / skateboard RULA-6 wheel and break pad mold

thingiverse

This is a mold for casting wheels and break pads out of 2-component polyurethane for Soviet-era longboard / skateboard RULA 6. Read more about the whole project (incl. printing the molds and casting the wheels) on https://rulaprojekt.blogspot.com/. Most will be in Estonian, but there will be one fairly detailed summary post in English. Photos show you what the 3-piece mold looks like digitally and when printed. There's also pictures of what the internal cores of the wheel look like. These fit inside the mold and the wheel is cast around it. That is, if you have the original cores. If not, there are 3D models for printing the cores, too. The cores hold the ball bearings. Also, there are some photos of the casting and the final result. If you want non-reusable molds, then you can use low infill and the mold will break once you start to demold the parts. If you want to reuse the mold, add a lot of infill and the mold will survive demolding just fine. Also, mold core 2 has a small opening in one end for inserting a screw, in order to be able to better pull from the screw with pliers when demolding. This requires a lot of infill, if you want the mold to survive. Treat the inside surfaces of the mold with liquid candle wax, to fill filament grooves. Then remove the excess wax with a thin putty shovel. This makes demolding much easier than using a release agent.
