Etchant PCB Holder

Etchant PCB Holder

thingiverse

I have been etching my own printed circuit boards. Using nothing more that a pickle jar and home made etchant. The boards etch best, if moved a bit through the process, to shake up the etching solution. Bubbles will form in the PCB, and these can hinder etchant process. By creating this board holder, it makes it easy to pull board out of solution, and remove the bubbles. Forget using Ferric Chloride. You can make better yourself. Go to your local home store, and buy some Muriatic Acid. Then pick up some 3% Hydrogen peroxide. Grab your glass pickle jar, and add 1 part Muriatic Acid. Then slowly add two parts Hydrogen peroxide. Careful, chemical reaction will occur. Make sure you use Gloves and safety glasses. This is ACID. Results. Over all it worked well. Held board vertical. Two small spots that didn't etch, that was being held by holder. I think the handle needs to be a couple of inches longer.
