After the completion of the second King’s Chapel in 1754, work began on the crypt - burial space - beneath the church. Completed in 1760, the crypt contains 21 vaulted tombs, one is modled above, and aprx. 150 individuals. Each tomb holds between 5-15 individuals, and were once accessible via wooden doors and steps within each one. Sealed in 1854, the tombs can only be accesed via a guided tour through the King’s Chapel Historic Program. The model above depicts thier simplified architecture, steps, and rough W x H.
