This was a competition design in our uni, it was applied to connect two capsules, which is light, expandable in a high ratio.  Diameter before expansion is 240mm, the height is 49mm.  diameter after expansion is 450mm, the height is 133.5mm. We used acrylic to construct and build a small motor in the centre to control the expansion and contraction. Since the 3D printing is booming, we believe this is 3d printable as well. for 1 layer, there are 32 small components, for two layers, just double the number. The screws SIZE we suggest to use is M3.
