Exploded Buckball

Exploded Buckball

thingiverse

An exploded buckyball. Serves no apparent purpose - just tinkering with scad and geometry. Instructions Use the customiser to generate one core segment, one hexagonal segment and one pentagonal segment. Then print 1x core, 20x hexagons and 12x pentagons. Print the hex and pentagons hollow to save time, plastic and let light through. The core probably needs some infill to work properly, 15% works fine. Put a blob of glue in each of the holes in the core (something simple like Loctite All Purpose works fine) and insert the hex and pentagonal segments. If you're averse to glue, you could probably tinker with the scad and enable the balls at the top of the pentagonal and hexagonal pieces to make it simply click together. Thought of that one a bit late, but I'd imagine it would work if you get the tolerances right.
