exposure times on anycubic photon

Hey, I'm very new to 3d printing. I grabbed a second hand anycubic photon from my local cash converters. they claimed the machine was barely used and basically new. I have run a few tests now and many failed attempts at getting this right but finally starting to get some prints. the only way i am getting prints with actual detail in it is if my exposure times are set insanely high! I'm currently at 55s for normal exposure where on the communal sheet the Elegoo transparent is supposed to be good between 12-18 seconds. My main question is, could the LCD be so old that its not able to expose the resin fast enough or would it possibly be my settings that im getting wrong and im just being an idiot?
