Extra strong GoPro mounting plate

Extra strong GoPro mounting plate

thingiverse

Most GoPro mounting plates on Thingiverse are designed based on the injection-molded part from GoPro. I was worried that the tabs would not be strong enough when printed on a 3D printer, especially when getting shaken around a lot with a camera mounted to them. The "arms" of this are roughly double the thickness of the OEM original, specifically to strengthen it where it needs it most when 3D printed. The footprint is about 5mm larger in both length and width compared to the OEM original. There are 3 versions: * *GoPro plate.stl* -- just a plain, flat bottom, nothing special * *GoPro plate w screw holes.stl* -- With tapered screw holes appropriate for most wood screws * *GoPro plate w string hangers.stl* -- This one is designed to hang around a tree or other vertical pole with string. The holes are 2.5mm in diameter and are appropriate for 2mm string, such as Mason's line. Supports are necessary under the two arms. Tolerances are snug, after removing the supports I gently file the arms and base a little, and my GoPro slides on easily, but with zero wiggle. Related: if you use double-sided tape to stick this to something, sand the base of the printed part to roughen it up before you adhere the tape to it. It stays __much__ more solidly in place.
