F-86 Sabre

F-86 Sabre

thingiverse

A miniature model of the F-86 Sabre. The F-86 Sabre served extensively in the Korean War. The Sabre's rival, the MiG 15, performed better than the Sabre, but pilot training, and advanced technology, (for the time) allowed the F-86 to have a very high kill-loss ratio. It was exported to England in a highly upgraded version, and to Thailand. Thailand also bought the AIM 9 Sidewinder. Interestingly, a Thaiwanese Sabre engaged Chinese MiGs, and fired the new Sidewinders. One hit a MiG, but did not explode, (due to the newness of the technology) allowing the MiG pilot to land his plane safely. Using the sidewinder as a prototype, the Chinese and the Russians copied the missile, and used it until they developed their own.
