Face Shield open Rubber Band by JTL

There are many face shields out there and it certainly wouldn't have been necessary to design another version. However, in the FabLab Bayreuth we produced more than 3000 face shields on a voluntary basis and free of charge and distributed them to surrounding organizations. Also here Timmy from OKM3D supported us with some unplanned filament rolls. For this, once again, our special thanks! Have a special look to their websites: www.okm3d.de So the time had come that we couldn't get more textile rubber bands anywhere. I then experimented with simple packaging tape and household rubbers and designed this shield during that time. I have ordered rubber rings 150 x 6 mm with a ring diameter of 100 mm. These were packed at 500 g and each was enough for approx. 120 shields. So we were able to equip some schools and local sheltered workshop as well as individual doctors with face shields. For this purpose, simple overhead foils were inserted into the holders of the shields, we got these from some schools that had no use for them already. You can see there are schools in Germany that are already working digitally. ;-) Fortunately, there were enough foils for our new purpose. I was also amazed and impressed that in addition to our 7 3D printers in the FabLab, our private 3D printers also lasted for a few weeks in 24/7 operation. It was a stressful time for my Creality Ender 3, after which some wheels had to be replaced. But it's running again and I'm very happy with it. I hope we can make it through these times and the design will only be needed on the sidelines soon. Stay sensible and healthy!
