I've been away from Thingiverse for quite some years, but I was getting thirsty, so I designed this simple cup to test out printing with translucent filaments

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

Type A Machines

Printer:

Type A Machines 2015 Series 1

Rafts:

Doesn't Matter

Supports:

No

Resolution:

.20mm

Infill:

15% or none

Notes:

The inner part of the cup is smooth and curved at the bottom so that if you print with dishwasher safe material, you can actually wash it.

If you print with a 4 perimeters, and 5 bottom/top layers, that should be sufficient to make it water tight, but experimentation is the name of the game.

How I Designed This

I used OpenScad
Starting with a simple circular base with 8 sides,
I then used a linear extrude to the height of the cup, with a twist component of 180 degrees. That gives it that faceted look.
Then I subtracted a cylinder with rounded ends from the middle of the twisted circle, and the cup is the result.

Category: Kitchen & Dining
