Fairy Light String Mod

Fairy Light String Mod

I like these cheap USB fairy lights as quick party deco. They would be nice for camping as well, since you can run them off a laptop, powerbank or USB car adapter. However, untangling them can be a real pain. So I designed this spool to store and carry 10m strings or shorter. The USB plug slots snugly into place and stays freely accessible. I used PETG, with more rigid material you might have to pry it open slightly & carefully with a screwdriver. When wound up on the spool it doubles as a USB light bulb or emergency signal light (mine came with an SOS pattern programmed in). The optional hook clips onto the spool with two 6x2mm disc magnets and can be used to retain the string end. The far end can then be attached magnetically, e.g. to a car, or with a carabiner (see pics). The optional diffuser/transport protection must be printed in spiral vase mode.
