Electronics cooling fan for Solidoodle 3 (should be the same for other SD models as the electronics board is the same). Print in Clear ABS for a cool look. This is a slimline unit that fits within my display case. The display case keeps the warmth on the parts and bed, but also on the electronics so I put this fan in to keep it cool. Prolong life-span and avoid the misses and skips some people have had from warm electronics. This pushes more air than a well known Australian Politician . .. . .you could probably add a resistor or a trimpot if this is an issue for you. Note: I bought a 60mm fan from a computer store for this, however it suspiciously measured out to be a 70mm fan, so measure to make sure your fan will fit this model. I have included Solidworks files for you to modify, just remember to add mine as a derrivative when you share it. Instructions 1:Press fit fan onto fan mount (no screws or glue needed). Fan should blow air onto the board, this will give you a more efficient heat transfer. 2:Cut wires to extruder fan (Logic would say disconnect all power sources first), and use a terminal block or solder to piggyback electronics cooling fan in parallel. This way when your Doodle is on, both cooling fans will be on by default (remember to tape up any loose connections you don't want to short the board). Adding an extra 0.2Amp draw here shouldn't be an issue - but do at your own risk, I'm not responsible if your doodle loses function and you require little blue pills from customer support to get it going again. 3: Replace stock Solidoodle electronics guard with fan mounted guard. Check to see if both fans run when the power is connected. 4: Clip Fan guard (second piece) onto fan so that wires and fingers don't get into the blades.
