Fan Shroud w/support for Createbot, CTC, Flashforge, Wanhao, etc
thingiverse
This will work on any 3D printer that uses a similar X Axes carriage such as Wanhao, CTC, Createbot, Flashforge etc. Print it in ABS .2 Layer with no support. There is a support structure inside that pops out after cooling with a little effort. Use a 40mm fan and a couple of m3x16 screws to secure the fan. It snaps into place with no need for clips or screws. This thing was made with Tinkercad, where you can also edit it online at https://www.tinkercad.com/things/9G2Gc8N9oG6 . I uploaded a second version that has no support needed from the start. 5/17/15 - Uploaded version 3, which has a fan angled for better airflow; still snaps into place easily and includes support created with Meshmixer. A model without any supports is also available, so you will need to add them yourself if necessary. 5/26/2015 I uploaded version 3.1, thanks go out to RicoSuave for the helpful suggestion. 5/27/15 The file called universal_fan_shroud_31_mm.stl has been redone with Meshmixer and is now smaller. Print in ABS with a brim only, as supports are not needed here either. 6/6/2015 I modified the original fan shroud; this new one has a slanted interior that improves airflow, but still requires support for proper printing. I personally have best results using Cura to print at .3 layers, along with support and a brim. Instructions Print in ABS. Layers .15-.2 do not require any additional supports as they come out easily after cooling is complete. You may also consider adding a brim. A standard 40mmx10 fan sits secured by two M3x16 screws and will snap into place without extra help, needing neither clips nor additional screws.
