Fanatec Shifter v1.5 Playseat Challenge LH mounting brackets

Possibly an edge case, I wanted the Fanatec clubsports driving wheel, pedals and shifter attaching to a Playseat Challenge gaming chair. To make things even more edgy, I'm in the UK and used to having a gear stick on the left. The chair's wheel stand pivots on the Left side and there is a catch on the right side, so it was easier to make this clamp for the LH pivot side. The gear stick clamping system comes in 2 main parts that fix to the shifter at the top and base, with another 2 clamps that fix those main parts to the seat. 4 thumb-screws (each made with a cap) are used to hand-tighten the clamps to the chair (3 at the base and one at the top). You will also need to use the captive nuts supplied with the shifter by inserting 2 of them in either side rail of the top right corner of the Shifter 1.5. You will also need 4 x 20mm M5 screws (pan head is good, though cap head will do) to fit the supplied Fanatec slotted rail nuts. ###Parts Altogether this "thing" consists of 12 plastic pieces from 6 STL files: * base * base clamp * top * top clamp * 4 x thumbwheels * 4 x thumbwheel caps **Additional necessary parts - as supplied with Shifter 1.5:** * 4 x slotted rail nuts (slide into channels on the sides of the Shifter 1.5 to secure top PLA section to it) **Additional required hardware:** * 4 x 50mm M6 hex-head screws (for thumb wheels) * 4 x M6 nuts (ideally nylon locking) (for nut shaped holes to accept thumbwheels). * 4 x 20mm M5 "Pan Head" or "Cap Head" screws (to secure shifter to PLA top section) * 4 x 20mm M6 "Pan Head" or "Cap Head" screws (to secure shifter to PLA base section) **Fitting Instructions - PLEASE READ!** When fitting the shifter, it is best done while sitting in the Playseat (to take up any sag), with the seat in a reclined position, and with the PLA base screwed on tight to the shifter and the PLA top part loosely fitted to the shifter's side rail nuts, so it can slide up and down. Any nuts that fit in the nut shaped holes could have a dab of CA glue to hold them in place, if required (nut sizes can vary a bit). While sitting down in the seat, offer the top bracket to the "hinge" of the playseat until it locates underneath, then push the base against the leg of the Playseat until it locates in the leg rail. Attach the base clamp loosely around the rail leg with the 3 thumbwheels. Tighten up the 4 M5 screws to secure the top of the shifter to the 3D printed clamping base while the underside of the clamp locates snugly in the chair's plastic pivot. Add the top clamp and thumb-wheel and tighten all the thumb wheels up until it all stops moving about. For removal, just undo the thumb wheels - there is no need to reposition the top clamp. This thing does work (for me anyway), although the seat does need to be reclined for a good fit. **Adjustment** The shifter base is not adjustable, but the top section can slide in the side rails of the shifter 1.5 while the M5 screws are inserted but not tightened. I use the Playseat Challenge in a fairly reclined position and preferred to measure the shifter to fit rather than create adjustments that may weaken or over-complexify the thing. Of course it can be improved: RHD version could flip the base section, although the top section does not have much clamping area on the RHS. Alternative locations are required... Adjustability could be added by somehow creating rotating clamps with a finite rotation of adjustment. If there is any interest from responses here, I may have a go at an RHS adjustable model.... **Original AutoDesk Fusion Files:** https://a360.co/2IGXA8M https://a360.co/2Ln9NNH **Guarantee/Warning** Print at your own risk!
