Fat Shark (ImmersionRC) 250 mW Transmitter Housing for Blade 350 QX

This is a design for a housing that allows one to attach the Fat Shark (ImmersionRC) 250mW transmitter to the Blade 350 QX quadcopter. There is also a similar design for a battery used to power the transmitter. The idea was to have a complete solution that does not require any changes to the body of the quadcopter (no drilling, gluing, attaching velcros). The biggest challenge was to design everything so that it can be attached to the curved legs of the landing gear. The transmitter housing is designed for the standard landing gear set BLH7815. It will not fit properly on the tall landing gear set BLH7815TG. The bracket used to attach the housing to the landing gear will have to be slightly redesigned which I am planning to do in the future. The box and the cover should not require any changes. The battery housing is designed for E-flite battery EFLB4502SJ30. You may be able to fit a similar battery but not much bigger. The main drawback in the design is using screws (bolts) to attach the battery cover to the box. Well, I charge the battery in the housing using extension leads. I have never had any problems with LIPO batteries catching fire. I just do not abuse them. If I have time I may try to design a cover that uses tabs similar to the ones used in e.g. remote controls. Everything has been design using TurboCAD Pro Platinum and printed several times on MakerBot Replicator 2. Any comment are very welcome. More in the instructions. Instructions You will need seven M2 6mm screws (bolts) and seven M2 nuts for each housing. There are six .STL files for the design: three files for the transmitter housing and three files for the battery housing. The brackets in two files are almost identical, one is just a mirror copy of another. I attach the transmitter to the left landing gear and the battery to the right one. Everything has been printed on MakerBot Replicator 2 using default standard settings. The raft and supports are not required. Print everything in the original position as saved in the files, just put the objects on the platform and do not rotate them. After printing some sanding may be required to remove any residual plastic. You will also need to grind small tabs on wide landing gear legs. before mounting everything. Before installing the transmitter, remove the clear shrink wrap. It will not fit into the box with the wrap. Use small pieces of e.g. polyurethane foam to secure the battery so that it does not move.
