<p>Summary - Replacement fishing rod ferrule ring. &nbsp;Repairs a fishing rod that has a ferrule that is missing the smooth ring that protects the fishing line from direct contact with the metal ferrule ring.</p><p>Story - I grabbed my spare rod to go fishing with my buddy. &nbsp;A few hours in, I noticed abrasions on the fishing line, and discovered that the ferrule at the tip of the rod was missing the plastic insert ring that protects the line from the metal parts of the ferrule. &nbsp;I swapped out to my buddy's spare rod and made a goal of fixing this when I got home.</p><p>The model here is the result. &nbsp;Works great. &nbsp;The replacement insert consists of two parts - the smooth ring and a retainer snap ring. &nbsp;</p><p>Print is super fast - 3 minutes at .15 layer height. &nbsp;I recommend PETG or ABS, but PLA might work. &nbsp;Set perimeters to 3 or more so there is no infill in the final sliced GCODE output. &nbsp;Note, you'll need a really clean bed to print this (dish soap method suggested).</p><p>How to use:</p><p>As designed, replaces a ferrule ring with an OD of 10mm and 8mm ID (size of hole in ferrule ring.) &nbsp;It prints in two parts - a top and a bottom. &nbsp;The top is the smooth plastic ring that protects the fishing line. &nbsp;The bottom is a snap-on ring that retains the top portion in the metal part of the ferrule (or use glue).</p><p>If your ferrule hole size is different, scale the model so that the size of the resulting collar (the part that fits through the hole in the ferrule ring) is equal to your ferrule ring hole size. &nbsp;It prints fast enough and uses so little material that a few trial-and-error runs to size it for your ferrule is totally feasible as an approach.</p><p>&nbsp;</p>
