Festiniog Railway Double Fairlie "Earl of Merioneth" in 4mm 009 scale

4mm scale (009) 9mm gauge model of Earl of Merioneth, from the Festiniog Railway. This Locomotive is famous for being the first steam locomotive to be built By a preserved railway, at the railway, for the railway. It will also, sadly, be famous for being the first to be withdrawn. It is due to be withdrawn in April this year (2018). As such, and since I have had the honour of driving the locomotive, I thought it fitting to make a scale model. I printed this in several parts (The body / tanks are one piece, then boilers and cab interior are added). I used a donor Chassis from a "Lifelike" GP40 (?) diesel loco, to which I added "steam bits" like coupling and connecting rods, and the iconic Fairly cylinder blocks at the front of each bogie. Paint was added first using car plastic primer, then several light sanding and re-coats later I used Humbrol No2 Green (acrylic) and Mat black as per prototype. It looks great, and runs very well. Completed photos to follow once "super-detailed"!
