I found a nice Domino glue applicator on Printables, but it didn't leave a glue surface that I was hoping to have, so I decided to work up a version that left more glue in the mortise. It works pretty well adding a bit of glue to the Domino, by tipping the applicator on its side and laying down a little glue (then drag the Domino on the opposite side of the applicator where there's glue), if that's your thing.

This applicator has deeper glue channels and a wider, more easily cleaned glue slot. I have printed this version in both PLA and PETG, and both seem to work well, with the PETG version being seemingly easier to clean after use.

The glue applicator is modeled / tested and works with the current (November 2022) threads that are on a 16 oz or larger Titebond glue bottle.

The adapter is modeled and tested to work with a FastCap GluBot glue bottle currently available (2022). If the glue ports are restricted and the bottle is given a hard squeeze, some glue will be forced past the glue stops. A pair of appropriately sized O-rings will reduce this tendency and provide the added luxury of being able to somewhat clock the applicator.

From many experiments, it seems that Cura provides a nicer surface when supports are involved. Cura supports were also easier to remove.

A flat piece of street sweeper brush that I found works well to remove any support material and to clean the glue slot after use. A piece of 0.032" wire works well to clean the glue distribution holes.

I had difficulty removing Prusa Slicer supports, and found changing to the following settings helpful:

First Layer Expansion: 3

Top Contact Z Distance: 0.25

Top Interface Layers: 4

Interface Spacing: 0.2

XY Separation Between Object and its Support: 75%

Printing “nose down” seems to leave supports inside the glue slot that can be difficult to remove if you don't have a street sweeper leaving metal bristles for you. I've come to prefer printing the nozzle on its side, narrow side up and down (wide faces showing to the front and rear of the printer). The support material is fairly easy to remove in this orientation if cutters are used to remove a wide section from the center before trying to remove the supports captured by the threads.

The .f3d files are so you can make modifications that you'd like.
