Tough box type project enclosure for the FG085 Function Generator Kit Print Settings Printer Brand: Ultimaker Printer: Ultimaker 2 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: .3 nozzle, .09 layer .18 base Infill: 20% Notes: Printed in 1.75 PLA using my 2mm filament modified Ultimaker2 using a 0.3mm nozzle I used 20% infill but found that if you use long screws to hold on the lid the centre of the screw post can break away. Best to go with 40% at least for the bottom. No reason that a 0.4 mm nozzle and 3.8mm filament would not do as well or better. The included OpenSCAD source has many comments and is parametric so you next electronic project box could be in here. Post-Printing Tough enclosure for FG085 Function Generator The scad source file will display 3 different parts to export and make an enclosure suitable for the FG085 The enclosure is in 3 parts controlled by setting the desired part= variable found in the scad source file. You need to print 1 top, 1 bottom and 4 feet. The print expects you to not use the bottom panel of the FG085 but does try to use the original screws to hold the unit as well as the table saving feet in place in the enclosure. The top is designed to provide some added protection for the little ADJ knob and buttons when carried in your tool kit. Lots of comments and written parametrically, perhaps you can reuse this code for your next electronic project. How I Designed This The FG085 is very inexpensive and I knew it would be dropped often and live in a kit with a bunch of other things. I wanted an enclosure that would at least protect the little Adjustment knob and also perhaps have a way to put a lid over the face eventually. The top is printed right side up on this print to make a well for the buttons to live in. I also wanted to have access to the USB and Power connectors so by inverting the bottom and putting the screw pillars on the outside it made the walls very close to the device. The circulation hole grills were designed to print with 45 degree angles which assist in limiting the overhang filament drooping during the print.
