Fidget Ring Thing

Fidget Ring Thing

After printing a few of maaspt's cool "gyroscopic relaxing keyrings" to test out the new dual color hardware on my printer, I wanted to take a stab at making one with slightly more rounded corners (fillet all the things!), and to see how many rings I could actually print before they just wouldn't stay together. Plus, it gave me an excuse to learn a new tool in Onshape and give in to the demands of my coworkers to make more of these.

For those with multi-color setups, I've provided STL files for each individual ring, along with a single combined STL to make it easier for everyone else.

I consider this a remix because it was completely inspired by the original, but this thing was designed completely from scratch in Onshape. You can view and copy the source here:

https://cad.onshape.com/documents/9f08ec81f49cd65e7623b9a4/w/ad71b555fcbd9ea9d2fea1fd/e/8bbe6b62f49a82c4c95442dd

Print Settings

Notes:

I would recommend you print this with the seams aligned. The tolerances between each ring are fairly tight (most are 0.5mm) and even a little bit of fluffy string between each layer can make the rings pretty hard to break apart if they're evenly distributed.
Category: Toys & Games
