Figure of The Goddess Ganga

myminifactory

This figure of the goddess Ganga is carved from a deer antler and depicts her with her mount, makara. Makara is a mythological animal that is generally depicted as half terrestrial animal in the frontal part (stag, deer, crocodile, or elephant) and half aquatic animal in the hind part (usually a fish or seal tail, though sometimes a peacock or even a floral tail is depicted.). In Hinduism, the river Ganges is considered sacred and is personified as a goddess Gaṅgā. This particular figurine dates to the 1990s and is from the state of Sarawak on Borneo. It was scanned with a NextEngine Desktop 3D scanner. Courtesy of Connie Bodner.
