Looking to dry 3D PLA filament in a food dehydrator, but don't want to destroy the dehydrator trays? This will allow you to keep the dehydrator intact for food drying and also use it to dry filament and desiccant bags. You can print 1 ring and the lid to dry a single large filament roll or some desiccant. Or print 2 or 3 rings and and dry more rolls at once. This works with dehydrators of the type shown, and likely some others. This same style is sold as Flexzion, Rosewill, Westinghouse, Self-Mate... These units can be purchased for $35 - $45 on Amazon. The center of these dehydrators has a couple plastic ridges and screws sticking up. You can use the spacer to make this surface flat for resting your filament spool on. I dry at 50C/120F for 6 to 8 hours (or overnight). You can place desiccant bags on an empty spool for drying. If you print in PLA, and go much higher in temp, the PLA will likely start to deform.
