Filament guide for MK2 and MK3 printers. Designed to be used when the filament spool is placed on the table behind the printer. Two 608 ball bearings are needed.

Print instructions

I have printed it in PLA only, but other materials should also work. I used 0.2mm layers for speedier print time.

Parts should be printed in the provided orientation.

Filament-Guide-body: Might need a brim to make sure it stays on the print bed. Supports aren't necessary.

Filament-Guide-base: Add supports. I recommend adding a brim, or it might warp off the print bed (at least when printed in PLA).

Filament-Guide-pulley: No special print instructions are needed.

Assembly instructions

Check the pulley halves and make sure they are flat and no filament residue exists on the top surface. Put one of the halves flat on a table and press a bearing into it. Repeat for the other half. Make sure the pulley is perfectly flat and that there is no gap between the halves. There is only a little tolerance in the body part to make sure that the filament cannot get between the body and the pulley.

Check that a bearing fits into the shaft of the base part. It is intentionally tight, or otherwise, the body would tilt when in use. The ball bearing should go deep enough that the chamfered tip of the shaft comes through the bearing.

Take the body part and remove any filament strands from the bearing housing. Install the bearing. It should go all the way in so that the ball bearing is not visible when viewed from the side. Again, the fitting is tight, or the body would tilt when in use.

Install the assembled pulley into the body by bending the two halves of the body.

You can now snap the base into the frame of the printer and then attach the assembled body into the base.
