Filament Guide with ballbearing for UM2
youmagine
The filament guide of the UM2 is woefully inadequate. After several hundred hours of operation, it shows clear signs of wear and tear, as evidenced by the first photo, which reveals that the filament grinds large grooves into the guide. This ultimately leads to frequent filament breaks, resulting in wasted printing time and dissatisfied users. Fortunately, there are already some improved filament guides available. However, I designed my own because I wanted a guide with a ball bearing that would allow the filament to flow very smoothly. To build this improved guide, follow these steps: 1. Print one base, two wheels, and the axle. 2. Insert the ball bearing into the two wheels and glue them together (I used epoxy, but any decent adhesive should suffice). 3. Assemble all parts with an M3 bolt, nut, and washer. 4. Replace the original guide with your new one. With this improved guide in place, you can expect to face fewer filament breaks :-).
