Filament Guide With Runout Sensor For Cr-10
thingiverse
This is a guide for filament on Creality Cr-10 when the filament spool is mounted on the printer's top bar. I discovered that placing the spool on the control box causes issues with angles, leading to snapped filaments and other problems. So, I decided to move it to the top of the frame and secured it using M3 nuts from an old stockpile. As a result, this created a sharper angle for the filament entering the Bowden extruder, prompting me to design this guide in Fusion 360 to help navigate the angle. First, relocate the filament spool: Simply remove the screws holding the spool mount on the control box and secure the spool holder using two M3 aluminum extrusion nuts on top. To install the filament guide: Remove the existing filament runout sensor by unscrewing it, then take out the sensor and its screws. Insert the sensor into the slot of the guide. (Some minor sanding may be necessary; in my case, I used a soldering iron to carefully remove some plastic.) Next, place the new cover onto the sensor and screw it down tightly using the old screws. Then, slide the guide onto the printer's frame: The slot should fit around the horizontal part of the frame and the notch should go around the axle for the top wheel on the z-axis. Finally, secure the guide to the axle with a zip tie and cut off any excess zip tie.
