To drill the holes for the screws into the metal tubes was really annoying. I think it could be easier to use wood instead of metal. Drill a small hole into the wood to avoid cracking it by the screw. Then 3.5 or 4x30 screw into it. Wooden staff diameter is 18mm. Due to that I've applied a little bit more height and thickness.
