Filament holder with friction control

thingiverse

This is the updated design of the filament holder https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2568123 with added friction - now the spool will not unwind randomly which may cause problem during the printing. I used 0.1mm thin metal sheet (from stencils) glued with double adhesive to one of the bearing holders. Four pieces of felt were attached with double adhesive to the arms of the friction plate (friction wheel). The arms holding the felt have spring properties (they are like leafs) and by using the correct washer (friction spacer) as spacer between friction wheel and the bearing we can adjust the friction force. Now the Filament holder has both smooth movement and controlled friction - works like charm. It's designed for MakerBot Replicator2 but could be used for any other 3D printer by changing the attachment plate.
