Filament Jam Sensor

Filament Jam Sensor

thingiverse

A simple mechanical filament jam sensor for my Anet A8. It triggers if the filament is stuck on the roll or is under too much tension for other reasons. I use it with OctoPrint to pause the print if that happens. You'll need a fitting end switch, I had a ZIPPY VMN around, so the mounting hole is for that model:http://www.zippy.com.tw/sw/show_detail.aspx?ps_rfnbr=314 Feel free to drill matching holes for your type of sensor, or modify the design to fit your switch. If you have OnShape, you can clone the document here:https://cad.onshape.com/documents/e07d739b67e082153adead97/w/207444e8c57531d54523d7aa/e/35ca79546d6725c7444fc339 Print Settings Printer: Anet A8 Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.2 Infill: 15% Notes: Print sideways, support only needed for the filament guide and its attachment. If you want to clip the filament in and out, cut a slot in the ring with sharp snips, a little smaller than the filament diameter and with a slight angle that it doesn't fall out.
