I was looking for a good way to hold several samples at once from the Makerbox Sample Kit. Lots of good ideas out there from fellow Makers. I wanted to put my own filament spin on things and came up with this model.

The is a Main Reel which is threaded. It comes in two sizes, the larger one holds up to 4 of the Filament Reels, the shorter Main Reel holds up to 2. The Filament reels slide over the thread and are held in place with the Nut. When not using one of the sample filaments, simply feed the filament through one of many holds in the reel.

Print instructions

Category: 3D Printer Accessories Print Settings

Printer Brand: Prusa

Printer: i3 MK3

Rafts: No

Supports: No

Resolution: .15

Infill: 20% Cubic

Filament: Hatchbox PLA Grey and Red
Notes:

I used the Cubic infill option from Slic3r, it gives the reel more strength. No issues printing in PLA, it serves it's purpose.

The Main Reel took about 9hrs to print. The Filament Reel took about 7hrs to print.

If the Nut doesn't start smoothly, check for burs on the edges of the nut (use a de-bur tool).
