
Filament Runout Sensor (Mk3 Style)

<p>This is an adaptation of the Prusa Mk3 filament runout sensor for use with other printers, with a bracket to bolt it to aluminum extrusions. Many of the proportions and dimensions have changed to fit around the sensor I used, but it's the same in principle. Magnetic repulsion presses a lever against a ball bearing. Filament pushes the bearing aside, which moves the lever into the optical sensor, which breaks the beam.<br><br>I used a cheap sensor off Amazon that supports 2.7-5v (MakerHawk Optical Endstop). On these, the plug faces inward with the sensor, so I accommodated that instead of resoldering anything.<br><br>Other hardware:<br>2x M3 30mm (goes through the main body of the casing)<br>1x M3 18mm (goes through the bottom casing, the arm, and into the top w/ heated insert)<br>1x M3 5 or 6mm (holds the cover on where the wires come out, uses heated insert)<br>2x M3 Nuts (goes with the 30mm screws)<br>2x M3 heated inserts <br>2x 6x2mm round magnets (holds the sensor down in the bracket)<br>2x 6x10x2mm rectangular magnets (used in the bottom case and arm to repel each other)<br>2x PC4-M6 pneumatic fittings</p><p>The Bracket is built with M6 screws in mind.<br><br>CAUTION: I needed to flip the VCC and Signal wires when plugging into an SKR Pro 1.2</p>
