Filament Runout Sensor Tweaks
thingiverse
I made some design alterations to the previous thing. I created an overhang for the limit switch as I was finding that most of the time it would be pressed even if the actual switch was at its full extent. This should hopefully give a bit of leeway for more/less sensitive switches as the actuation of these switches can vary by a lot. I pulled the posts down by 2mm to make it easier to slot the switch without breaking the posts. To get the metal part of the switch under the post all you need to do is squeeze it. The overhang should also help keep it in place. I tightened up the dovetails by recutting them from the lid STL so it could properly friction fit. If you need more play on the lid, you should be able to put it on and remove it a few times until the material rubs down enough. The lid is not included in this thing, but you can grab it from the thing this is based on. For the switches, I used these. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07X142VGC
