Filament Holder Roller using 2 No. 6804 bearings. Didn't really have a problem with the stock holder but using this one relieves the tension on the filament noticeably. Narrower than the stock holder. Will fit spools up to 80mm wide and an internal diameter of Ø45 +. See comparison photo. Requires printed parts and 2 bearings. No threaded rod, nuts, washers, screws etc needed. All parts were printed in PLA with raft. Shaft: Inbuilt support around the M30 thread otherwise support will be included inside the hollow centre. Print without support and use a knife at the split line to remove the support material. Spool: Print 2 of these and slide them together. This will stop support being needed for the top flange if it was printed in one piece. Support from buildplate. M30 Nut: No support required. 25+ infill will suit the thread integrity. M10 Locking Knob: High infill to prevent the base of the M10 section shearing off. 75+ infill recommended. Do not over-tighten when assembling. It's only needed in the unlikely event of the bearing working loose. 6804 Bearings. Purchased 2 of these from ebay for £3 (GBP). I got the 2RS versions but removed the seals on both sides and flushed out all of the grease using brake cleaner. The bearings spin much easier like this. Seals and grease are not required in this application. Shielded (ZZ suffix) bearings might also work but I have not tried these. Don't press the bearings too far into the spool. They need to remain flush with the outside. 6804 Bearing Press - Optional Optional print but makes it simple to install the bearings if using a vice. High infill recommended to maintain integrity.
