I made this simple ball bearing filament holder for my CoreXY printer. It uses 698 skate ball bearings and a plastic tube (50mm PVC tube that are common in kitchen drain plumbing in Sweden, get it att Biltema, Clas Ohlsson or any hardware store). File for the base is also included in case you want to print them out. I just used som plywood and hand tools to fabricate mine. You also need a M8 threaded rod (5/16" can also do if that is the closest you can get). UPDATED: The adjustable friction brake disk and hub is now uploaded and the stand have go two M8 threaded holes to take the friction adjustment screws I suggest to use a softer filament like abs or asa for the brake disk to save the bearing hub from wear PLA will survive rubbing against abs i hope you need 2ea M8 set or thumb screws buy or print some of these (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1166358). The ball bearing can be omitted so i added a "plain bearing file if you want to go budget ;) step and f3d files are here https://grabcad.com/library/filament-spool-holder-for-3d-printers-free-standing-1 for they who like to use other tubes or just make the hubs to direct fit your filament spool. https://grabcad.com/library/filament-spool-holder-for-3d-printers-free-standing-1
