To prevent spool knocks, I designed a latching filament spool holder for my Mendel Prusa printer. The holder features latches that secure the spool shaft on the brackets and hold the brackets to the printer itself. It also includes cones covering a range of spool IDs (3/4"-74mm) and nuts to tighten play between the cones. Three sets of these nuts locate the brackets to the top rail. Print the brackets, cones, and twist locks in PLA or ABS at 100% fill, while the clip-on nuts should be ABS at 100% fill. You may need to heat the cones up to 70 degrees C for proper bearing installation.
