I designed this riser specifically to address an issue I was experiencing with my Vertex Delta printer. When filament spools with a bulged side are used, they can rub against the top plate, resulting in unwanted scratches. To prevent this problem, the riser press fits onto the spool holder at the top of the printer, providing a smooth surface for the filament to rest on.
