Filament Usage Gauges
thingiverse
Calculate the required filament length for various cube sizes with different filament types and infill percentages. A 1/8" filament, 1mm shell, 30% infill would need .5", 1", 2", and 3" cubes to have lengths of .5ft, 3ft, 20.6ft, and 64.8ft respectively. A 3mm filament, 1mm shell, 30% infill would require a 12.5mm, 25mm, and 50mm cube to be 0.16m, 1m, and 6.73m in length, while a 75mm cube needs 21.16m of filament. With an ABS density of about 0.037 lbs/cubic inch, 5lbs equates to approximately 917 linear feet of 1/8" filament. Use these calculations to keep track of consumed filament or verify purchased quantities. Be aware that renders may display mirrored text, but original files are correct. Additionally, file replacements have been made for a 1mm solid shell and 30% filled interior volume at Bophoto's suggestion.
