NEGATIVE / FILM SCANNER for full-frame CANON dSLR This design adds a customized mount that is adhered (superglue) to @tylerhovi 's Negative 35mm Film Scanning Holder Carrier. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4672950 The mount is specific for a full-frame CANON dSLR and Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro Lens with an ET-73 lens hood. (This is the included lens hood. All L glass include a lens hood.) I chose to purchase a no-name aftermarket (Haoge) hood from Amazon so that I could "fix" the parts together with foam and gaffer tape. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07GFGSDXK/ The aftermarket hood doesn't slide perfectly onto the lens bayonet mount, but it ends up working "better" because it allows fine adjustment of the frame. This mount allows the lens hood to sit flush and thus parallel to the film focal plane. I was unable to get the film roller to work in @tylerhovi's design. I cannot try bigger O-rings, because once the two pieces are tapped together, they are never coming apart. I just advance the film by hand. Shooting Manual with Canon Speedlite 580EX at 1/200s sync 1/64 power at f/8 ISO100 works well. Stofen Omnibounce and piece of paper diffusion. Have been trying to overexpose slightly to preserve detail in dark areas while being careful to avoid blowing highlights. UPDATE (February 4, 2022): I've added an updated version of the Mount for the Canon 100mm f2.8L Macro lens. The newer (V2) mount fits slightly better. The ET-73 hood is 92mm diameter. V1 fits 94mm. V2 fits 93mm. Having some leeway is nice in situations where you need to move and manipulate the framing. But if your setup is pretty solid, then the v2 mount may be more stable. (Mount printed at 0.3 resolution) UPDATE BONUS: I've also added an updated roller/wheel that can be a substitute for the @tylerhovi design. This updated roller solved the issue that I had with the original wheel not working to advance the film. The issue was NOT due to a flaw in @tyloerhovi 's design, but a result of my overzealous post-finishing of the print. I had used supports everywhere and ended up "over-sanding" the part, making it fit loosely and thus not allowing the rubber O-ring to grab the film. With the new roller, I only used supports on a small section (to the bed only). The roller works now ... although it is really really tight. I may have made the wheel under the O-ring too big. Maybe will make another version in the future, but once assembled, the Film Holder does not come apart .... it would require a complete full reprint, so satisfied that it is working for now.
