Filter Element Adapter for 3M Scott AV-3000 Mask

The AV-3000 is a respirator mask commonly used by fire departments and first responders. The purpose of this adapter is to allow first responders to use their issued masks as an alternative to disposable protective masks that are currently in low supply due to the spread of COVID-19. In the event that N95 mask reservoirs deplete, adapters can be locally manufactured by fire departments, universities, and hobbyists, and consumables can be locally sourced at hardware or hobby stores. The Body of the adapter fits into the receiver of the mask, and a Ball jar ring is used to secure a filter element on the face of the adapter, illustrated in picture 7 and 8 above. The filter screen should be installed between the filter element and the jar ring and is intended to prevent deformation and failure of the filter element from positive pressure inside the mask produced by the wearer exhaling. Not pictured, but required is a silicone seal that fits between the face of the mask, and the rear of the large body of the adapter. This seal is listed in the consumables below. In the event that a filter element is unavailable, the attached AdapterAdapter allows the user to attach a 30mm-outlet, ventilator filter to the device with a silicone seal for the face, a 30mm rubber hose, and clamps.
