Filter Floss Cup (Red Sea)

This is my first 3D model so please be gentle. :)

This cup insert replaces the mesh filter sock in a Red Sea aquarium sump. I designed it to be shallow enough to use a coiled strip or wad filter floss that is replaceable without needed to remove the cup or tray. It's also deep enough to rest just below the surface of the water to eliminate dripping water noise. Lastly, I added a water fall like tapper to the top to encourage water to flow quietly over the floss.

Update 6/24/2018: On request I've added a tall version of this filter cup. This was a quick edit using Microsoft 3D Builder. I split the model just below the tapper, then scaled the lower half up horizontally. I then merged the 2 halves back together and exported as STL. I still had to repair in Netfabb because 3D Builder left the mesh open. Please note that I have not printed this yet. If you do, please let me know how it works in the comments.

Print Settings

Supports: Yes

Resolution: 0.2

Infill: 20%

Notes: Try to keep your supports as close as possible without fusing as it may influence the thickness of the flange and prevent the cup from resting properly in the drawer.
