# Finessa drip tray to include infrared sensor This project includes a modified drip tray grid for the Finessa coffee makers. The purpose of the modification is to integrate an infrared sensor. ## Motivation Because the coffee maker takes some time to start up and reach operating temperature, I often walk away after starting the coffee process. As a result, I sometimes forget that there is a cup of coffee waiting for me. By the time I realize, the coffee is cold. ## Remedy If the cup has been standing on the drip tray for more than 2 minutes, an infrared sensor connected to [Home Assistant](https://www.home-assistant.io/) triggers a notification to my phone. It also triggers a sound via Google Home Hub. ## Note This is my first time ever using a CAD program.
