Finial Lugbúrz (for PVC Halloween Fence)

thingiverse

This is a finial for Halloween fences made from PVC pipe. This particular model is an original design. It comes in two- and four-fin versions. Be aware that the connection between the sphere and the rest of the finial is fragile, especially when scaled down. If you want to protect it, you might try drilling a small hole through the center of the base into the sphere, and inserting a stiff piece of metal wire or rod (something like clotheshanger wire or a servo linkage). But you'll have to be precise. In a future version, I may add this to the model. Due to potential scaling, it may not be the diameter you'd need, but if nothing else it could serve as a pilot hole. If you are a Tolkien fan, you may already know that in the Black Speech of Mordor, Lugbúrz is the name of Sauron's tower (the one with the Eye of Sauron at the top), which is more widely known by it's Sindarin name, Barad-dûr. I named the finial this because that's what it reminded me of after I printed it, but it actually wasn't inspired by Tolkien at all. It started as a variant on a sketch made for a different finial that I am still working on. See below for detailed instructions. In particular, be sure to take note of the "Scaling to other pipe sizes" section, as you will need to size this to the pipe you are using. I have a collection of Halloween things to which my other finial designs are posted as I complete them. Make sure to Follow me or Watch the collection to get updates.
