<p>Fireball XL-5 (untested) flying model rocket.</p> <p>WIP NOTES:</p> <p>12-5-18 - Added decal PNG files for printing a single and double set of XL-5 decals. Also included Silhouette Studio files if you happen to have one and want to cut the decals out.</p> <ul> <li>Created a thin body shell for the center of XL-5 - looks FAB in Silver!! You need to print it in VASE mode so it's super thin and light.</li> <li>After printing it in a nice silver I saw serious problems with the original Fireball Jr mesh so I fully rebuilt it. The new version prints beautifully now.</li> <li><p>I'm using CC3D Silk Silver PLA for this and it's awesome. <a href="http://a.co/d/b0CpHTO">http://a.co/d/b0CpHTO</a> Parts you will need to complete this</p> <p>196 mm of Estes BT-50 body tube<br/> 68 mm of Estes BT-20 body tube<br/> Shock cord<br/> 12" to 14" Parachute<br/> Nose weight (clay or lead pellets)</p> <p>The launch lugs can work on a typical rod or small rail.</p> <h3>Post-Printing</h3> <p class="detail-caption"><strong>You will need to use supports along the fins</strong></p> <p class="detail-image"><img src="https://cdn.thingiverse.com/assets/7f/7f/f8/d1/e9/XL5\_Jr\_Supports.PNG"/></p> <p class="detail-caption"><strong>Supports needed for the fins - to get really nice detail I print this at .05 layer height. </strong></p> <p class="detail-image"><img src="https://cdn.thingiverse.com/assets/a0/c4/d4/93/ac/20181106\_193746.jpg"/></p> <p class="detail-caption"><strong>The BT-20 is glued to the motor mounts with the forward one acting as a motor block. </strong></p> <p class="detail-image"><img src="https://cdn.thingiverse.com/assets/ed/35/0b/18/8a/20181106\_200202.jpg"/></p> <p class="detail-caption"><strong>Tie a small knot into the shock cord, then tape that to the BT-20 motor tube.</strong></p> <p class="detail-image"><img src="https://cdn.thingiverse.com/assets/20/4f/2d/fc/81/20181106\_200241.jpg"/></p> <p class="detail-caption"><strong>Feed the shock cord into the BT-50 tube and glue the motor mount into the BT-50 so that the nozzle fits onto the tube.</strong></p> <p class="detail-image"><img src="https://cdn.thingiverse.com/assets/10/36/e0/ac/99/20181106\_193840.jpg"/></p> <p class="detail-caption"><strong>Glue the BT-50 into the fin can aligning the rockets with the corresponding rocket nacelles on the fin can.</strong></p></li> </ul> Category: Hobby
